Obsession

My obsession with The Kennedy's is increasing by the day! I managed to stop myself from reading about them today for 20mins to go on the computer to check my emails and write this post! I will most probably go back to reading after this! I have a huge fascination with their lives and not only JFK and Jackie but the whole family! I'm interested in every detail, how the Kennedy's were more like a brand than a family and the scandal that went on behind closed doors. Nothing was certainly as it seemed on the outside. These pictures were taken by the fashion photographer Richard Avedon. I recently purchased the book 'Richard Avedon, The Kennedys' which is a selection of photography work he did on JFK and Jackie. Here are some examples below from 1961 as John F Kennedy was elected President of the United States of America.

Original

Yesterday in Uni was really interesting, we were taught how to plan and design photo shoots/videos through story boards. A story board basically means planning what exactly your going to do, which colours you'll use etc. Along with the story board, you have a mood board which is where your inspiration came from and the theme. We looked at lots of different videos of people planning famous tv adverts and one of the videos was the making of Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' music video. The video showed that the original concept of the video was from a series of paintings made my 'Will cotton' you can see the original paintings below. Will cotton actually worked on the video and he built the life size 'candy world' he also did the album artwork for Katy's album 'Teenage Dream' you can see where the inspiration came from and it's nice to see how Will's original idea was interpreted for Katy. I've posted the videos up as I think their really interesting. One is on the album artwork and the other is for the music video!

(This picture of Katy Perry is actually a painting, it's amazing! looks just like her!)

The Only Girl

I've never been a huge fan of Rihanna as I've always thought she was a bit of a try hard. I do usually like her songs especially after I've had a few Vodkas! But since she's stepped out with her red hair, I've been obsessing a little over her. I think she looks amazing and I'm loving the contrast with the florals she wears. I love her new album artwork and the Marie Clare UK December cover she's on. So for today's friday song it's going to be her new song Only Girl (in the world) The song is a nice 'going out' song and the video is really cool. Plus I'm a little obsessed with her tattoo's, She has nearly twenty and their not too obvious. She gets away with her neck 'rebelle fleur' tattoo, just like Freja!

When a Man Loves a Woman

I know this cover isn't actually new but I was looking at the pictures and was reminded how much I love this picture! I think its gorgeous and what I love most about it, is the way Ryan Gosling is looking at Michelle Williams. Simply gorgeous!

Blog Love

The lovely Jenna from Seven Style Notes agreed to do a little Blogger Q and A with me! Jenna's blog is a mixture of fashion, art and literature and her writing style is very personal. I highly recommend that you check out her blog! So here are the questions we did!

What do you enjoy most about blogging?

I love to connect with my fellow bloggistas, whether they blog about fashion, love, music, film, life in general. It's interesting to see a new perspective on something through other bloggers eyes. My greatest joy in all of this is hearing about a subject from another blogger where they have added a twist to it, and caused me to see it in a new light. I find myself thinking, "Wow! Wish I would have thought of that..."

Do you think someone can have a career thought blogging?

Absolutely! I think it just taked effort and a connection to your readers. Or, do something that no one else is doing. You have to post consistently. Read comments. Respond to your readers. Share some of your personality in each post, and ultimately, let your true self shine through your blog. Readers want to feel like they know you, so let them!

Do you think Blogging will eventually take over magazine publications?

I really hope not. There is nothing like pulling a print magazine off a newsstand. That's just pure beauty. But, I think there is room for both blogs and magazines in the media. The both offer something wonderful, unique and amazing that we can't get from just one or the other

If you could be any film character in the world, who would you be and why?

Oh, gosh. Tough question. Cheesy answer. Probably Allie from The Notebook. I live for that sappy, die-hard romantic stuff.

What would be the ultimate quote you life your life by?

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose"
-Romans 8:28

My christian faith gives my life purpose, and remembering this Bible verse has always helped me through the tough times. God has a plan.

Who is your role model/idol?

I don't believe we should idolize anyone, and I don't really feel like I have role models either. I've learned from my parents advice and the experiences they've told me about. I've learned from my own missteps. And I sort of watch others to figure out what I want/don't want in life. I feel like you have to be your own role model. Be the person you want to be and know you should be. Try to do the right thing. Learn from mistakes, and don't beat yourself up about them (BUT if we are talking fashion, I get inspiration from Zooey Deschanel, Gwen Stefani, SJP, Sienna Miller, Carey Mulligan and Rachel McAdams. Love those girls' fashion senses!)

If you could change anything in the world, what would it be?

Good question! Of course, I would love there to be less crime, less war, less pain, etc., etc., but the way I see it, everything happens for a reason. And I don't pretend to know what's best! But in my personal world, I would love there to be less stress in my life right now. That would be lovely...

Hope you enjoyed the Q&A and you should definitely check her blog out!

Happy Birthday Katy

I couldn't of course go today without mentioning Katy Perry. Today is Mrs Brand's 26th birthday! You must know by now that I love this girl! I did manage to get a ticket to see her on tour in the end, in April! Yaaaay! Cannot Wait! So have a fab day Katy! Here's the Rolling Stone shoot she did a few months ago!

Lets go to Brighton on the weekend

Olivia

I got this picture from The Sartorialist blog which, for those of you who don't know, is a guy who wonders the streets with his camera and takes pictures of some deliciously fashionable people. From well known to faces to the unknown. If you've never checked him out before you really should!

Here is a picture of socialite Olivia Palermo in London. If you've ever watched MTV's 'The City' then you will despise this woman but as 'The City' is a scripted show I'm willing to give her a chance and say im sure in the real world she's a lovely girl. It doesn't help that she is groomed to perfection and looks amazing all the time. She does have a really good eye for fashion. You can have a look here at when she did a months feature of 'Today I'm Wearing' for Vogue UK. She is one of the best Vogue have featured on as she had a range of day to night looks and really knew how to show the clothes off with good lighting and someone else taking the pictures. A lot of the people they have now literally take pictures of themselves in the dark infront of a mirror where it's almost impossible to see what they are wearing. (Another good one they had was Alexa Chung, you can see all the features they've done/doing on the link I've posted)

Back to Olivia's picture, I love it as it's unposed yet she looks so elegant and graceful. I wish we could have seen the next shot as I would love to see her attempt to cycle in those sky scrapers! I'm guessing she had a pair of sensible flats in her bag to change into but then again, she probably would cycle in heels, effortlessly. The wind won't make a difference to her hair and she wouldn't be flushed at all. Some people get all the luck!

Another Reason To Love The Supermodels

Here's Friday's song. It's an old one today. Chris Isaak's 'Wicked Game' which has some amazing lyrics and the video is beautiful. Helena Christensen reminding us all why she doesn't get out of bed for less than $1000 a day

"The world was on fire
No one could save me but you.
Strange what desire will make foolish people do
I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you
And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you"

Eye Candy

O.M.G

How have I never seen this guy before? He is gorgeous! His name is Matthew Gray Gubler and he's an actor. I absolutely love these shots, they were shot by of course Terry Richardson. I like them in Black and White as Terry's usual style is shot in colour. Enjoy and Happy Weekend!

Happy Birthday Kim

Today is Kim Kardashian's 30th Birthday. Your probably wondering why I'm talking about Kim in a fashion blog as she's not really innovative with her style and is not really considered a style icon. I think you either love the Kardashian family or hate them. They are the perfect example of people being famous for, well, nothing. I'm not a huge fan of this whole celebrity culture were people are famous for nothing but you have to admit Kim and her family are clever business people. They are rolling in their money and have managed to create a brand of themselves. They can put their name to anything and sell it. Whether that's a good or a bad thing is up to you to decide but people are obviously buying into it.Personally, I can't help but love them. The whole family. I love watching their programme 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' I find it really interesting to watch. So Happy Birthday Kim, or as you'd say "Happy Birthday Doll"

Many many pictures of Kim, no one can deny that she is gorgeous! She is obviously a good lingerie/bikini model but I really love the fashion shots of her! especially the ones of her and her ex boyfriend Reggie Bush.
